Apologetics Study Bible for Students Kindle Edition
Like the acclaimed Apologetics Study Bible that has sold 115,000+ copies, the Apologetics Study Bible for Students will anchor younger Christians in the truths of Scripture by equipping them with thoughtful and practical responses for whenever the core issues of their faith and life are challenged.
Multiple research studies have shown that spiritual focus often weakens among teenagers as they head into the attention-dividing realm of young adulthood. Up to 66% of them leave church altogether. The Apologetics Study Bible for Students works against that trend by helping this audience begin to better articulate its beliefs. In addition to the complete HCSB text and dozens of articles collected from today’s most popular youth leaders, including general editor Sean McDowell, this new study Bible also includes:
• Two-color design-intensive layout on every page for the visual generation
• Sixty “Twisted Scriptures” explanations
• Fifty “Bones & Dirt” entries (archaeology meets apologetics)
• Fifty “Notable Quotes”
• Twenty-five “Tactics” against common anti-Christian arguments
• Twenty “Personal Stories” of how God has worked in real lives
• Twenty “Top Five” lists to help remember key apologetics topics

I am a former skeptic who has spent time on both sides of the religion debate. My conversion to Christianity was due in large part to the well-reasoned responses of the few believers who were able to answer my questions about their faith. I am now a writer, speaker, and teacher I have an M.A. in Apologetics with Philosophy and a Ph.D. in Theology. My website is www.douglasbeaumont.com.

Aren't we all really students of the Bible?

- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2010Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseOK, call me biased and opinionated, as I provide the disclosure that I worked on this Bible as an associate editor and wrote five of the articles as well as the 60 "Twisted Scripture" notes. Yes, I am. But I want to say that, even if I hadn't worked on this Bible, I would have still given it the highest rating possible. The Bible is filled with resources such as personal stories, archaeological facts, and apologetic articles that will be valuable for any student. There is only one problem with the Bible and it's that it could end up being too distracting in the youth group. Let me explain. I was sitting in Sunday School last week and had this Bible with me. Well, one thing turned into another, and then I realized I was having more fun looking at the articles and notes than I was listening to the sermon. Ooops. But hey, what a great problem to have, a Bible that you just want to keep reading and looking at.
In addition, the articles were written so that a young teen could understand but that it is still valuable for those who have already graduated. So many of my high school students have told me how sold they are on the Bible. I even had one adult get one from me, whispering that the Bible was for him and NOT his child. He told me in a whispered tone lest anyone think less of him because he was getting a Bible meant for "students". No, I think it's great that this Bible is even valuable for parents. Finally, not everyone may agree completely with the articles that were written--you have to admit, though, some pretty big issues are being discussed in just a page--but if you can remain open minded about some opinions on controversial issues, I would do what I did and get each of your kids a copy for their personal use. Unless our kids learn to own their own faith, they are destined to fall after they leave the friendly confines of our homes and the professors get a hold of them. Get this Bible for all of the young people in your life before it's too late.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2016Great apologetics bible for both young teens and adults. As an apologist, I liked that this bible includes a bit of a presuppositional apologetic flavor and the tactics to be aware of when confronted with common logical fallacies from unbelievers.
The Design of this bible is beautiful, and wording is easy on the eyes. The words of Christ are not in red btw, but I already knew this before buying. Jesus' words in black actually makes it easier to highlight with a "dry highlighter" if need be (which I also recommend to prevent page bleeding) as opposed to red lettering.
As a KJV onlyist, I have to say that the translation of this bible is pretty accurate. It's easy to understand to those who are new to the faith and have trouble with the old poetry-like English that I still love about the KJV. The HCSB translation is actually growing on me the more I read it. (Not bad, Holman group, not bad at all)
With so many bibles and apologetics material in my collection, this is definitely one that should be added to every Christian's bookshelf. You can't go wrong with an apologetics bible. Not only do you have the word of God, but a defense of the faith all in one. We must Always be ready to make a defense for Christ. 1 Peter 3:15 💪📖
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2013Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis bible is seriously my favorite ever. The apologetics articles interspersed are all interesting. The notes at the bottom are useful and interesting. Since it is a Holman Christian Standard Version it is easy to read and not very common, which is nice because it can give a bit of a new perspective at a bible study.
I use this as my bible study/everyday bible. It is a good size and looks cool. I think it would be perfect for any new Christian, or anyone questioning or considering Christianity, as the articles help answer a lot of questions in regard to why should someone believe.
There are two things this bible could have improved. First, a few passages every once in a while are in bold and seem extra important, but this seems random to me, and there is no explanation for the bold passages. The second thing is I wish the words of Jesus were in red.
Overall though, great bible. I recommend it to everyone.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2017I love this Bible! I am a youth pastor and I've been lookin for a good HCSB study Bible. Most other HCSB's were hardcover for twice the cost of this one and they weren't even a study Bible! The imitation leather feels like imitation leather but I like it better than a hardcover and it looks very sharp!
This Bible has great material in it! Very thought provoking! While this is a "student" study Bible, I feel it would do well in the hands of anyone at any age, looking for apologetical answers and info.
Though I am finishing up 3 years of ministry schooling, I don't think you have to be a credentialed minister or an MDiv to be able to utilize and understand the contents of the side material.
I'm thrilled and thankful to own one!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2010Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI got this when I got the Apologetics Study Bible since I work with teens and wanted to give it a "test run" before recommending it. First of all, I was surprised how much I like the HCSB translation! It communicates clearly and still maintains the integrity of the original text, unlike other "easy to read" translations like the NIV.
As with the Apologetics Study Bible, there aren't near enough notes on individual verses like you would have with other study Bibles (like the MacArthur or ESV Study Bibles), but I think the thrust of the Teen and Adult ASB's is to hit strictly on Apologetics... but there are still some hard to interpret passages that are ignored and should be addressed in all study Bibles. For example, in 1 Peter where he mentions the baptism for the dead, nothing is said here.
Overall, it's still a great study Bible... just don't expect a heavy, in depth treatment of every verse like you would with other study Bibles, however the articles are fantastic and for that reason, its worth it.
